Mike Gast

Michael John Gast, 47, of Elkton, passed away Wednesday May 9, 2018 doing what he loved. Mike was born on Aug. 11, 1970, in Saginaw, son of Rodney and Rosemary (Countegan) Gast of Caseville. He graduated from Caro High School. He was employed by Michigan Sugar Company as a welder, machinist and pay loader operator. Mike lived every moment of his life to the fullest. He loved his children, family, and friends deeply. He also was passionate about hunting, fishing, boating, and running anything with a motor, especially his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The majority of his free time was spent with his boys teaching them the way of life. In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by his three sons; River, Tanner and Jack Gast of Elkton; as well as being a father figure to Aron Laycock. Also surviving are his siblings; Ronald (Karen) Gast of Reese, Gregory (Elita) Gast of West Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Noreen (Ross) Voelker of Pigeon and Amy (Eric) Raymond of Hendersonville, North Carolina; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service to celebrate Mike's life will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 from St. Roch's – Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Caseville. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Michael's children, in care of his sister, Noreen Voelker. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ware-Smith Woolever Funeral Directors, 9940 Saginaw St., Reese.
